Civil Aviation Administration of China - 2007
June 2007 - RVA is pleased to announce another high profile win,
this time to supply two more Advanced Automatic Flight Inspection
Systems (AAFIS) to the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This
repeat award clearly demonstrates the satisfaction that CAAC has
had with their earlier RVA systems, now in operation for over a
year.
The two latest systems will be similar to those already supplied
however they will include technological enhancements to reflect the
growing pace of the Air Traffic system in China. These enhancements
include:
-
an improved Interference Direction Finding System
-
additional GBAS/SBAS inspection capability
-
ADS-B inspections using a 1090 ES Transponder and a
Universal Access Transceiver
-
VHF Data Link Mode 2 capability
-
Operational software refinements
RVA will also be responsible for the modifications to two Cessna
XLS aircraft and the installation of the AAFIS systems, using the
STCs from the previous programme. Congratulations team RVA!
Civil Aviation Administration of China - 2004 to present
After an in depth competitive analysis the CAAC awarded an
extensive contract to supply two (2) new Advanced Automatic Flight Inspection Systems
(AAFIS) to RVA Aerospace..
In addition to supplying two AAFIS system, RVA was also responsible for modifications to two new Cessna XLS aircraft and for the
installation and flight test of the systems. STCs were obtained from both the FAA and Transport Canada, which were then validated by CAAC.
Following Acceptance in Canada, the first aircraft left Canada in October 2005 and the second aircraft departed in November 2005.
A Ground Support system for data archiving, along with a separate Embedded Training System, was also delivered in December 2005 for use
in Beijing.
Of particular interest to agencies currently using older Sierra equipment, the AAFIS was designed to display, process and record the
same Flight Inspection information as in the Sierra systems. This important feature makes it easy for users to upgrade to the AAFIS.

2004 - Following the success of the DGPS based RVA system, one of the portable systems delivered in 1997 was upgraded with DGPS.
2001 - A third RVA system was contracted for by the DGAC. This system is fully automatic using DGPS which replaces the digital theodolite for
all categories of ILS. The Citation II aircraft was modified to accept the DGPS signals.
1999 - An existing SAFIS system was upgraded by RVA by adding a GPS receiver along with an associated computer and software to replace a theodolite
used for non-ILS inspections.
1997 - A contract was received to supply two (2) Semi-automatic Flight Inspection Systems with GPS from the DGAC of Chile for installation into
a Cessna Citation II and a Beech King Air aircraft. Aircraft modification and flight testing were performed in Canada by RVA.
Systems were used with a digital theodolite for ILS inspections up to Category III, with automatic inspections for other navaids using the GPS.
These systems are unique in that they could be easily removed from one aircraft and temporarily installed in another. They could also
be operated as single systems or dual systems in the same aircraft.
One system was sent to Easter Island twice a year for installation in a Piper Seminole permanently based on the island.
Brazil
The RVA GPSupgrade system was delivered to Brazil (2) to convert older SAFIS systems to fully automatic for enroute navaid
inspections.
Oman
A single GPSupgrade system was delivered to Oman, again
converting an older SAFIS system to fully automatic for enroute
navaid inspections.
Italy
Very advanced software was developed by RVA to add GPS/INS integration capability to a Flight Inspection System operated by Ciset, Italy.
